KP2 on Finale - Windows to Mac

I am fairly new to Macs. Here are a couple of facts and maybe someone can tell me what the hang up is:

1. I have a mac with the latest version of Virtual Drumline and Finale2009.
2. Our percussion writer has a Windows OS and Finale2008 with the same version of VD.
3. Last year when I had a Windows OS and he sent the percussion music in Finale format with the VST plugin I was able to open the program and hear the sounds just fine...that is not the case now.
4. When I open the file and click play, kontakt player will not even cycle through the instruments.

Since your percussion writer is on Windows and you're on a Mac, the plugin formats are possibly the problem. In his or her case, they're using the VST. On your Mac, you're probably using the AU version of KP2. As a result, it's possible that the sounds s/he had loaded on their end may not be automatically loading into yours.

I would recommend you have your percussion writer save a MULTI of his KP2 setup. If they're using more than one instance of KP2, s/he should save a MULTI for each instance. They can do this by simply opening up each instance of KP2, the click the ";load/save"; button, then select ";save multi."; When doing this, it's probably a good idea so DE-select the checkbox for ";absolute sample paths.";

Once your percussion writer has sent you these multis, load them into your score (you may have to tell KP2 where your VDL library is stored). As long as you've loaded each multi into the same slot as your percussion arranger, your score should playback the same way it did for them. For example, Multi #1 would go into the first slot (channels 1-16). Multi #2 into the second slot (channels 17-32), etc...

There may be some shortcuts for accomplishing this that I haven't experienced yet. If other Finale users may have experienced this before, let us know if you have any tips!

In Addition, once you have done this process once, you will not need to do this again, unless there have been changes to the multis.  The score will remember what has been loaded.  I do this frequently with my projects for one high school since the battery writer uses a Windows computer.
