When I start up Sibelius, Kontakt Player 2 automatically starts to load VDL 2.5 samples even though I have my preferences set to not do this. It usually happens when I am using two instances of KP2: one for VDL 2.5 and the other for Garritan Concert and Marching Band. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.
If you have your preferences set to load a certain playback configuration upon launching Sibelius, most likely that playback configuration was saved while instruments were loaded into some or all of it's activated player instances.
Once you've located which playback configuration is loading on startup (before launching a score), go into that playback config, click the ";show"; button for your activated KontaktPlayer instance, and if there are instruments within (I assume there are), go to the ";load/save"; pulldown (near the top of KP), and select ";RESET MULTI."; This will remove all loaded patches. Do this with any activated instances of KP, then click SAVE to save your playback configuration. Next time this configuration loads, it won't automatically load all those patches.
As an alternative, it may be more efficient to have Sibelius automatically load a lighter weight playback configuration that doesn't require the loading of samples. Then when you launch a score that uses a different config, you can elect to do that at that time.

Hey Jim, I tried your suggestion (resetting the multi in each instance of KP2 within the playback configuration) but they were already empty and samples are still loading when starting up Sibelius.

Gotcha. Double-check in your Sibelius preferences to see which playback configuration is set to load on startup. This is the configuration you want to be editing.

I generally set the ";Sibelius Sounds"; or the default configuration to load, just to insure that doesn't happen on start up.

I have it set to not load any specific configuration, but I'll just hop on board and do what y'all are doing to fix this problem. Thanks for the tips. :)
