I am trying to arrange some tambourine music for a glock player and also have playback. I've tried the staff style and staff expression solutions but to no avail.
I am using a macbook pro (8gb ram), Finale 2010 and VDL 2.5.
Any suggestions on how to switch the patch back and forth from glock to combo rack B?
You unfortunately can't currently switch between pitched and unpitched instruments in Finale 2010. That's one caveat of the new percussion layout system. Perhaps it will find its way into 2011.
However, pitched to pitched and unpitched to unpitched works fine.

You can make it work if it is a simple map, same as before in 09 and previous. For something more complicated like the Rack Combo unfortunately, you will run into some problems.
This is something that MakeMusic is aware about, and will hopefully be included in a future update.
";Expanded Percussion Playback Last year we simplified the process of getting notes on percussion staves to look  and playback  exactly the way you want them to. This year Finale 2011 makes it easy to switch between pitched and non-pitched percussion anywhere in your score";
