FINALE 2010b and Kontakt Player 4

I just downloaded Kontakt Player 4 to use with VDL 2.5 (2.5.2). I am running it with Finale 2010b on Windows 7. For some unknown reason I cannot get it to show up as a VST plug in for Finale 2010b and furthermore - I cannot even find the KontaktPlayer4.dll file to put in Finale's VST plugin folder to get it to show up in Finale. Anybody have any suggestions or knowledge about this issue? What am I missing?

One thing to keep in mind - Kontakt Player 4 is a little different than Kontakt Player 2 in that there's no dedicated KP4 plugin. KP4 is actually just the full version of Kontakt 4 running in ";player mode."; So you'll most likely be looking for the VST file called Kontakt4.dll.

I don't have a Windows 7 machine handy to check on, but try looking in /Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 4\VSTPlugins. If it's not there, I'm wondering if maybe when installing Kontakt 4, you inadvertently didn't install the VST component. If so, rerunning the installer may do the trick.

Jim,

You ";nailed it"; - I did not realize that I had to choose VST plugin on the install. Thanks!

David
It should be located where Jim specified. If you have a 64-bit machine, make sure to look in Program Files (x86) for the NI folder as well.
