Instrument volume

Along with other annoying issues I'm having, I can't seem to have sufficient volume to the instruments.

I'm dealing with primarily battery instruments.  The volume of each instrument is so incredibly low, that I have to turn the volume on my computer all the way up to hear it at a decent volume.  The volume issue is included when I export the audio as well.

How can I fix this?!?!?!

I'm running:
VDL 2.5.2
Finale 2009

Thanks!

Have you installed the 2.5.2 library update?

Yes, I have installed the update

Check out where I stated what I'm running.

Are you loading the Finale specific instruments?
Yep I sure am

Still too quiet

The Finale-specific instruments put out an overall increase of 12db over the regular instruments, so if this is too soft, there's definitely something going on within your Finale environment or your computer's audio system that's causing it. Try loading these instruments in the standalone version of Kontakt Player and you'll see what I mean. What are your mixer settings in Finale? Have you placed any dynamics into your music? What are the output settings in Kontakt Player (the main output fader when you click the ";outputs"; option in Kontakt Player)?
Well I've made the switch to Sibelius.  So far I'm just trying to learn how to input notes with all the articulations, dynamics, etc etc.  Fairly confusing, but that's mostly because I've been using Finale for YEARS.  I've written a couple things here and there just to test out the software.  The volume thing was an issue yet again.  This is even a different computer then what I normally use, so I'm not convinced it's a hardware issue.

I adjusted the Kontakt players output like you suggested.  It made a small difference, but noticeable.  I will say though that the diddle quality is definitely better.  It still doesn't sound completely natural, but it's MUCH closer than Finale.

One thing I noticed is that Playback is playing some expression of the rhythms that I never wrote in. Some notes are a bit louder than others, almost as if the ";player"; is getting louder and softer.  It's subtle, but you can clearly hear it.  Is there some default setting in Sibelius that's causing this?

You most likely have Live Playback enabled.  Go to Play>Live Playback and make sure it is unchecked.
Wouldn't that be more pertinent to Play > Performance than Live Playback? Sounds like you need to change the Expressivo and Rubato to Meccanico, instead of the defaults. That change will take out the humanized variance you are hearing, and can be likened to Finale's Human Playback feature in some ways.

It can be either. In my experience Live Playback has been the culprit for issues like this, since it is turned on by default.  The changes occur when you enter notes at different velocities, Sibelius records those velocities.
Gotcha. I guess it depends on your entry method.
