Marimbas will not playback with hairpins??

Hello all,

In Finale 2010b with 2.5.2 and templates I am unable to get the marimbas to play back when there is a hairpin (cresc. or decresc.) on the part.  I am not sure if this has to do with the changing in between rolls and regular strokes I am using or some other setting I may have overlooked.

Any help/suggestions would be great!

I take it no one has experienced this?  I have only had this problem when moving between rolls and regular strokes, all other (without changing between the two) marimba sounds; crescendi and deccresendi work fine.  Thanks if you can help!

I had this problem and saw another post on this.  It seems that, for the samples of sustained rolls, you must use the cresc/dim playback plug-in in order to have the midi correct.  Individual notes/attacks are recognized and altered for crescendos and diminuendos, but the sustained samples that are triggered by articulations are not (because there are not repeated attacks for the notation software to recognize and adjust over time).

I select the measures in which I have sustained rolls, go to the playback plug-ins and select cresc/dim playback, and then adjust from there.  The plug-in will input the correct midi commands.

Hope that helps,
Any luck with your problem?  Just today I've come across the same thing.  Hairpins play great with no expressions applied anywhere to the part.  But once I apply them the crescendos and decrescendos all get screwed up.  I don't have rolls on the actual hairpins, so I've switched back to regular strokes by that point.

I'm using Finale 2010 and the 2010 templates / text expressions.

Anyone with a solution??  Thanks!
