I'm using the Finale 2010b template, which is supposed to work, but
I can not get things to display correctly. I have an aux staff that
starts out with tam-tams, then I want to do some cymbal rolls.
So I made a staff style for Rack A, choose the rack A map, and
applied to the staff. Then I entered notes. Then I did a program change.

Is anything wrong with how I'm approaching this. I seem to always
have problems when trying to do my aux parts. Any help would be great.

I apologize for the big delay in responding. Staff styles will be addressed in the FIN11 templates. Until they are available, email me a copy of the file and I'll take a look at what you've set up. And, I'll try to post some steps later today.
