I'm inputting marching cymbal line music for the first time. I noticed that no matter what sound I put in, it always places the note in the D space. I know I am able to move the notehead to any space I want, but I noticed that when I do that, the sounds don't play for every line or space on the staff. So when I move the notehead around, I'm only getting maybe half of the sounds during playback.
How can I fix this?
I'm using Sibelius 6 and the latest version of Virtual Dtumline. I'm also using MAC OSX 10.6.4.
Make sure you do a quick search before posting. Chances are, someone has had a question similar to yours.
Hope this helps!

Hey Bryan
Well I could have done a search and found this thread, however it doesn't really help much. I'm still getting total silence when I place a notehead on the A, B, or C lines, I get cymbals sound. Any other line or space I place the notehead in, I'm getting no sound at all.
Also, I find it strange that I would have to create 3 different staves just to get the sounds I want for playback. Seems like an awful lot of work just to hear some cymbals.
Is there any way I can notate this the way I want AND have the playback I'd prefer? Or do I have to jump through these hoops?

Bryan's search suggestion was just a friendly reminder to search the forum first before posting a question. The date on the thread he gave as an example of said search result is from 2006. That information does not necessarily apply to the current Template 6.0a.
Otherwise, it sounds to me like you need to review the Readme file that came in the template package you purchased. Specifically the mapping diagram for the Cymbal Line All instrument on page 45. Are you using the Cymbal Line All instrument, or one of the individual ones? I'm going to guess that you're using one of the individuals.
If after your diagram review and subsequent experimentation it is still not clear, come on back and we'll continue to work it out.

The post I linked to is pertinent by virtue of the fact that both Bill and Jim mention the idea of using a playback staff (to produce the sounds you want) and a notation staff (to produce the notation you want). If you want to have noteheads on all lines and spaces, that's your only viable option, due to the reasons Jim mentions in his post. That was the primary reason I was linking to that post, regardless of whether it's slightly dated or not.

Ah, I gotcha! That is a little more time insensitive than I originally read.
