I just downloaded the new Finale 2011 Finale templet (thanks for the work done on this!) and just recently installed Finale 2011. I installed all files for the new templet.
When I go to assign voices I go to: Midi/Audio > Instrument setup > Audio Unit Instrument ... The Kontakt player is not showing up as a possible option in the drop down menu.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to copy Kontakt files, but reading through the old install files it mentions this is not necessary with Mac set up as it is with Windows.
Are you using the full version of Kontakt or the Kontakt Player which installs with VDL?
Have you check to to see if Kontakt (full or Player) are installed on your Mac? If you're not sure where to look go to MacHD>Library>Audio>PlugIns>Components.
When you're looking in the Audio Units Instrument List, it should be listed as Native Instruments: Kontakt 4 (or which ever version you have) or KontaktPlayer2 (again, or which ever version you have).
You are correct in stating that you should not need to copy any files for the AU/VST device when on the Mac side.
Let us know how things develop. Also, listing your system specs is always a good idea. Trouble shooting computer information without these details can be a bit of a crap shoot. Especially listing the type of computer, operating system, etc.

Ted,
I checked for the .component file. It is loaded in the MacHD>Audio>Plug-ins>Components folder
I thought I wrote my computer info:

Rich,
Ok, so that eliminates the plug-in from the equation. The next thing to do is check to see if you are up to date on everything. There is a Finale 2011b update available, although that should have nothing to do with what appears to be your issue. Are you current with VDL? Which Kontakt Player are you seeing in the components folder, KP2 or KP4? I'd also check the Knowledge Base at MakeMusic.
Rich,
I just did a quick search at the Native Instruments sight and the only version of Kontakt/KP supported on 10.6 is Kontakt 4.

Ted,
That make sense, but Kontakt 2 currently loads and works with Finale 2010 and 2009 on the most current version of the MAC OS. I am up to date with all Finale software as of last night.

Ted,
Here's where I am.
I downloaded the Kontakt 4 player (after reading the MM knowledge base). Which now appears when I go to: Midi/Audio>Instrument Setup>Audio Unit Instruments>finale channel (drop down menu)
Strange thing - The Kontakt 2 player now appears after updating to Finale 2011b and actually works.
Those buying the new VDL 2.5.2 Finale 2011 Template you will need the following for the template to work properly:
- VDL 2.5.2 Finale 2011 template (Santa's sleigh is not full yet - a shameless plug) - Kontakt 4 Player (free download) - Finale 2011 - Finale 2011b update (free to registered users)
Here are my system specs: Mac Pro 8-Core/8GB Ram OS 10.6.5 Finale 3.5.2 - 2011b Logic 9 Reason VDL 2.5 Vienna Symphonic Library
Happy Holidaze!

Glad to hear that things have been fixed. Strangely enough, I had no problems with either the Kontakt Player 2 or the full version of Kontakt 4 when putting the templates together. And thanks for the plug to ask Santa for the templates. :)
