Kontakt player isn't showing up in playback devices.

I am running Sibelius 6 and just purchased VDL 2.5. I have done all of the updates and have read the ";ReadMe";. The problem is that the Kontakt Player and sound set are not showing up in the available playback devices. I've read everything I could find to try to fix the problem, but had very little luck.
I think part of the problem is that when I needed to place the sound set xml file into C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Sounds, the ";roaming"; file didn't exist, so I went into C:\programfiles/Sibelius Software\sibelius6\sounds and placed it there. I have no idea if that was the right thing to do or not.

Thanks for the help!
Are you able to see the AppData folder?
Welcome to the forum jbrick!

I'm going to guess that you are using either Windows Vista or Windows 7. In either case the folder structure is the same for placing Sibelius related files. The only exception is whether your OS is 32 or 64 bit. You can place the xml sound set into the Sounds folder of your Sibelius software installation. If you do, you will also see all of the other default sound sets that Sibelius puts there.

On my 64 bit Windows 7 machine, I place my xml sound sets in this folder (yours may not have the "; (x86)"; part):
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 6\Sounds

As Justin was alluding to, the AppData/Roaming folders should be there because other programs besides Sibelius place things there. Make sure you have your hidden folders/files set to ";View"; in the Folder Options dialog (Tools > Folder Options > View). See attached image. And if you are still not seeing the sound set in the Playback Configuration drop-down, you may need to restart Sibelius so it can load it.

If you can't see KontaktPlayer2 in your available devices list (or if it is grayed out), you need to not use any of the default configurations. Create a new one and you should be good to go (see this thread for more). And if you still can't see KP2, then you maybe will have to manually drag the VST dll files (three of them) from your Native Instruments KP2 folder to your Sibelius VST folder.

So for me, I would copy the three .dll files from here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Native Instruments\Kontakt Player 2\VSTPlugins

And paste them into here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Sibelius Software\VSTPlugins

Again, you may need to restart Sibelius at this point.

If this doesn't get you going, let us know.
