I'm having trouble saving volumes in the mixer.  The snare voice is set at 35% and is nearly inaudible.  Every time I change it to match the rest of the ensemble it changes back on me?  Any ideas?

Are you using a MIDI keyboard? If so, I'm willing to bet that the volume slider on the keyboard is set at around the 35%. In many programs the volume of the instrument on the first channel or slot can be effected by the level of that slider. The best bet would be to make sure that the slider is set to the value at which you want the instrument set.
