Due to a hard drive issue I'm doing a clean re-install of the OS and all applications (namely just iWork, iLife, Sibelius 6 and VDL 2.5) as opposed to restoring from a Time Machine back up. I've read that the Leopard Installer is still necessary to install in Lion, but is there anything else I need to be aware of before diving in? Everything has been running smoothly with Sib6 and VDL2.5 and it's been a LONG time since I've dealt with any of the technicalities of installation. I want to make sure I won't have any trouble with the NI service center, registration, etc.
Or would it be advisable to do the Time Machine restore for convenience?
If you're moving up to Lion, know that it no longer supports PPC applications. This would include any application installers. While I'm not certain if this has any impact on the VDL installer, it probably will for KP2.

Using the Leopard installer should work fine on Lion. You'll just need to download that, run it, then drag over the .nkx files (from your VDL DVD) as outlined in the instructions.
Once you've done that, I'd recommend downloading the latest Service Center installer from NI so you can authorize your VDL, after which, you should be able to download the VDL 2.5.1 installer (which will also update your Kontakt Player 2). After that, run the VDL 2.5.2 library updater and you should be good to go.
You may also want to consider installing a more current version of Kontakt Player, although unfortunately, Sibelius 6 will not recognize the currently available KP5 to work as a Kontakt type plugin.
If you run into any snags, just let us know and we'll help you iron them out.
