New Sibelius/VDL Install - NI Service Center can't connect to the internet

Hi everyone,

I recently got a new laptop and set about installing and setting up Sibelius 6 and VDL 2.5.2. Service Center installs as part of the VDL installation from the DVD, but it can't connect to the internet. This is the same internet connection I am using to post this message right now, so clearly I have internet access.

The laptop specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Core i3 2.3 GHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM

I tried restarting, running the Service Center as an administrator, and running it in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. In all cases the Service Center says ";Service Center was unable to establish an internet connection";.

Any ideas?
Hi Joe,

That sounds frustrating. I seem to remember seeing this before as well, but I honestly can't say what may have caused it.

Here's what I'd recommend. Download the most current version of Service Center directly from the NI website. Install that, and presumably, it'll replace your current installation. Try running that one and see if it's less fussy. If not, it's possible there may be some temporary wonkiness going on with NIs servers.
Jim,

Thanks; that worked. I was actually looking for this file before but didn't know the correct place on the NI website.

Now that it worked, I'm having a problem registering VDL, which I believe I know the cause of. VDL was previously installed on my desktop (which it still is) and on my old laptop (which failed a number of months ago). When the old laptop failed, one of things that died was the hard drive. This happened without an opportunity to uninstall VDL from the old laptop, which is now a on-functioning computer.

Can you assist?
You don't need to uninstall on the old computer, just activate it with service center and you're done.
Regardless of needing to uninstall on a previous machine, it won't activate on the current one.

Sure thing, Joe. Send me a PM with your serial number and I can look into it. Sorry for the trouble.
