This forum has helped me out a lot and I am back once again to ask yet another question. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. Here is what I am working with...
Mac OSX, version 10.7.3 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Sibelius 7.1 Kontakt 5 Korg Microkey
So, my question is...When I used to write on Finale I used the VDL library for my percussion sounds and instead of using General Midi for the band sounds, I used the Garritan Library. This way I had everything working through Kontakt. Now that I have switched to Sibelius 7, I was wondering if its possible to get the same result. The General Midi sounds are quite hard to listen to and when working with the marching band scores that I arrange the percussion parts for, I like to hear how everything lines up, which is not possible with the General Midi sounds. Is there a library that will work on Sibelius 7 and be able to play through Kontakt other than the Garritan library from Finale or can I use two different sounds sets? For example, is it possible to use Sibelius player at the same time I am using my kontakt player? Any help would be great.
You can use Kontakt or the Sibelius Player to listen to Sibelius virtual wind and string instruments. Simply assign an instance of Sibelius Player, or another instance of Kontakt Player, in your playback configuration, and then assign the Sibelius Sounds to that instance.

What recommendation on sound libraries other than Sibelius sounds would you recommend that would work in kontakt player?

Were you using the Garritan sounds that came with Finale or the full version? You can purchase the full versions of GPO and CoMB. They now use the Aria player, similar to Kontakt Player.

I was using the version the Garritan version that came with finale. I would like to find a library that would work in kontakt player, but thanks for the suggestion.

I have just installed VDL 2.5.5. I currently use template 6.0a, and I am sure that I installed correctly. I upgraded to Kontakt Player 5, which shows all of the information for the install. The problem I am having is that Sib 6 is not giving me an option for the sound set for VDL any longer. It doesn't show up on the list. What have I done, or better yet, what do I need to do?
Thanks, Brian

Check out this chart for Sibelius/Kontakt compatability:
Thanks. This would have been nice to know before I upgraded to Kontakt 5. I need Kontakt 4, which I can't find a link for any longer. Any help with that? I use windows XP, and I think I read that Sib 7 is not compatible with XP. Does this mean it does not run on XP, or it is not supported?
