Hi, I have a MacBook Pro with Sibelius 7 and VDL 2.5 (with the WriteScore Template) running on Lion with a 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7 processor and 4GB of memory.

My battery Cymbal All playback only plays normal crashes regardless of any staccato or tenuto I put over it. For instance, I am trying to write cymbal chokes but the playback does not choke the cymbal when I add the correct notation that the README tells me to (a staccato). Also, it does not play back any sizzles, sucks, or anything besides normal crashes when I notate it to. When I load old files with Cymbal All it does plays back perfectly fine, but ever since I got Sibelius 7 and the new Write Score template it does not play back correctly on anything new that I write.

What sound set do have assigned in your Playback Configuration?

This may very well be not directly related, but also be sure you are using the very latest version of Sibelius 7, version 7.1.3.

I already have the Sibelius 7.1.3 update and my playback config Sound Set is VDL Sound Set 7.0a

I have an idea of what it might be. Can you send me the file? (Sent you a PM.)

Also, please go ahead and attach a screen shot of your Playback Configuration here so I can attempt to duplicate the environment.

Looked at the file. You're not using the correct notehead, needs to be either 33 or 34 - depending on exactly which choke you want. See the Maps file for all the mapping diagrams - and the attached image for this case. (If you're using a MIDI keyboard for input, this would be inserted correctly for you. :) )

In looking at the diagram again myself, I'll put it on my TODO list to add an Input Variable to the shorter choke's sound ID that will point to notehead zero with a staccato dot (as there's room for it in the mapping).

Thanks this corrected the problem. I must have an outdated version of the README file because mine says the choke sound is just 0 with a staccato. Where could I get an updated version of this, or where could I find it on my computer if I already have it..

If you're looking in the Readme file for diagrams, yes, I'd say you have an outdated something. Assuming you do in fact have VDL Template 7.0a, you have the latest stuff already. Look in the zip file you downloaded. The one you're looking for that has the 7.0a diagrams is the Maps file. Otherwise, use the contact form on the TWS site and someone should be able to help you out.

Oh wow this map is way more helpful, especially for using my midi controller.
