I am using Finale 2011 and Kontakt 5 (stand alone).  I use quite a few libraries within Kontakt that work just fine.  However, when I load a VDL Instrument, say a Manual Snareline instance, the volume is so low that you can barely hear it.  Same issue with Tenors and Basses.  Using the volume slider on the Snare instance doesn't work because it resets every time you press play in Finale.  I have had this issue in the past as well will earlier versions of Kontakt and VDL.  As I mentioned, all other libraries in Kontakt work fine at normal volume levels.  The only work around I have found is to mute any non-VDL libraries and turn the master volume WAY up in Kontakt.

When you load VDL instruments, look for the folder of Finale specific instruments.

I found the ";Finale Marching Perc Map"; in the Combination Instruments folder.  Are there individual ";Finale"; instruments for the battery sections?

Go to the top level of your VDL instruments (in Kontakt). There you'll see a folder called ";Finale Specific Instruments."; These are duplicates of ALL instruments in VDL with their default volumes adjusted louder to make up for the issue you're describing.
