I've been happily using VDL 2.5 for a couple years now. I was supposed to get a new laptop, so I uninstalled and de-authorized VDL, Kontakt 2, and Sibelius 6. The new laptop is delayed a bit, but I need to use Sibelius, and VDL. So I tried to re-install everything and I keep getting this error message: The Patch could not be loaded (unknown error). I also noticed that the normal Virtual Drumline logos are not being displayed on the right. I have attached a screen shot. Please help!
Do you know which version of the VDL library you're using? If it's 2.5.5, you won't be able to load those instruments into Kontakt Player 2. Instead, you should use Kontakt 4 Player. You can request a free download for that by filling out a support ticket on the Tapspace site.

I think it is Version 2.5. I have attached a screen shot. If I update to Kontakt 4, will it work with Windows XP?

You'll have to check the ";Library Info"; area within Kontakt Player itself. By default, the library is just called ";Virtual Drumline 2.5"; no matter where you view it. But the ";Library"; version is shown in the ";info"; area. Not super obvious, I realize, but this is how you'd go about checking that.
Another reason you might be seeing that blank graphic in the VDL library area is that some files in your library folder have either been removed relocated. Reinstalling the library may fix this, or alternately you can try resetting the library path (KP2 - in the library info window) or simply reloading the library (if you're using KP4 or higher).
I believe Kontakt 4 should work with Windows XP as long as you're on Service Pack 2.

So if I were to update to VDL 2.5.5 and downladed Kontakt 4 that would not only solve all my problems, but also make things load faster? I'm tempted.

Kontakt 4 with VDL 2.5.5 is much more efficient than the old KP2. Your mileage, of course, may vary depending on the specs of your machine.
If you still need help with your installation, you may always fill out a support ticket for some direct assistance.
