I looked through the forums where this was last discussed in 2006. Has there been any further implementation of the SmartMusic idea in the Sibelius world?
Perhaps the Sibelius crew in the new environment will incorporate this idea into a new product with another company...?
Thanks for any leads, Mike

Highly unlikely. I can say with some certainty that this will never happen. When I worked for Sibelius, we looked at purchasing ";In the chair"; as a competitor to smartMusic. The company couldn't get their program up to Sibelius' standards and we didn't have the resources to dedicate developers to fixing their program. It was a cool program that had a video of a conductor that conducted along with the metronome. I dont think Avid will try to compete with SmartMusic. They have their hands full developing Sibelius and having to compete with Finale and the new Steinberg program eventually. SmartMusic is it's own department at MakeMusic and from what I hear, takes more resources and makes more money than Finale.
