Suspended Cymbal Sounds Not Playing Correctly

OS X 10.11.5
Sibelius 8.3
VDL 2.5

Hey everyone,

I've been having some issues with suspended cymbals not playing back correctly. Here's my work flow:

1) add ";SusCyms All"; instrument
2) enter a crash (notehead 51 on the top line)
3) crash plays back fine with sustain
4) add in a suspended roll after that first crash (notehead 31 on top line with rolled notehead)
5) the original crash now plays as a choked crash and the suspended cymbal roll is taking twice as long to crest than normal

My first concern (you'll see in the screen shot) is that even though I added ";SusCyms All";, it shows up as ";SusCym 15"; K Zildjian";.
The second concern is why the playback is changing when I add a suspended cymbal roll.

Thanks for reading!
Bobby
Assuming you're using the Template, make sure all instances of VDL are pointing to the ";VDL SoundSet 7.0a"; sound set.

Attach a screen shot of your Playback Configuration.

You need to change the sound set for all instances of VDL. They should read ";VDL SoundSet 7.0a";. (Using ";Virtual Drumline 2.5"; will give you mixed results at best.)
Makes sense. I went to go change it and this is what I see.
You don't have the Template sound set installed correctly - that's why it's not showing up. Please review the Readme file on where to put it.
Hmmm...I'm looking for the ";VDL_SoundSet_7.0.xml"; and I cannot seem to find it. I have ";VDL_SoundSet_7.0.sib";. How am I able to get that ";.xml"; file?

I'm also not sure which folder to put it in because I have three different ";Sibelius"; folders. Here's what is in Library>Application Support>Avid>
The sound set file name is ";VDL_SoundSet_7.0a.xml"; and it's in the package you downloaded from The Write Score. (There is no file named ";VDL_SoundSet_7.0.sib";.)

You want to put that XML file into the Sibelius User's folder, which on Mac is at:
/Users/[yourusername]/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius/Sounds

Here's what mine looks like in the image attachment on this post: https://forum.thewritescore.com/index.php?topic=639.msg2842#msg2842
Thanks Hugh.

I followed the instructions from that other forum post you gave me the link to and it's all working now.
Excellent!
