No. When VDL1 (the original "Virtual Drumline") was released in 2003, it was a different type of product from our more current VDL offerings. Current versions of VDL (2.5.x) are actually "virtual instruments" that are serialized and loaded into a free software player called Kontakt Player. VDL 2.5 contains a much richer set of sounds as well. As such, the current edition of Virtual Drumline isn't actually an upgrade to the original VDL1 library, but rather, a completely new product altogether, so it must be purchased as such.
